What is it? This is the chain used for the rear chain on all of the pedicabs in our fleet. This is a new product from KMC (it replaces the KMC Z410). It is engineered to prevent dropped chains, and contains 112 links. For cyclists, this chain can be used on fixies, single speed and internally geared bikes.
Why we love it? This chain, like the front chain, can be repaired using the Park Tool CT-5 Chain Breaker. This chain should be regularly lubed with Tri-Flow, especially after operating in wet conditions.
Pro Tip! Since there is no shifting involved with rear chains, there is minimal stretching. However, the chain length should be checked every few months, as on overly stretched rear chain can cause the mid drive cog and differential cog to "shark tooth."
